Description

This was taken a few days ago during my visit to Indianapolis, Indiana. The monument shown is the State Soldiers' and Sailors' Monument built in the 1880s (I think) and finished in 1901. It stands at 284 feet (86.6 Meters) tall.

I highly suggest checking out the link as it shows the monument as it was back in 1898.

The trees' leaves just ever so slightly come into the frame adding a touch of nature to this otherwise urban setting. There are so many buildings and other structures it's difficult to see your idea behind it. The signs at the bottom are unneccessary, a simple crop would make at least the bottom more pleasing. Nice work with the saturation, it really makes a stronger statement then the original.

nice work with the saturation, good angle , but the photo is too crowded for me.
it is true that the leaves are adding a touch of nature, but for me they are just burdenning the pic.
More space to the right (on the statue's side) would be great for off centering the assembly.
the frame is a bit too thick and the color isn't helping the pic IMO. maybe something close to black would be better.
Overall it's a beautiful urban shot. and you did a good job.

Thanks for the feedback! I was looking to try and add the modern buildings with the older monument. But maybe that wasn't such a good idea.

Nice perspective!

It looks still a bit to narrow and tightly cropped.
I would look to take that shot from another angle with a less busy surrounding (if that is even possible.

Also the light conditions is not 100%. If you want the night shot use tripod and longer exposure time.

moserArtist: I forgot my tripod when I left

I did want some night pictures (And tried to take some) but none of them turned out well. Sadly I can't go back to the location any time soon.
